The Dry-bulk piercing Thermometer is a product made by Hartwig Instruments. It contains a robust stainless steel stem of 1700mm long ( diameter 25mm) with handles and protective housing for the thermomter ( Testo 108 ). The sensor is mounted with a screw thread and can be replaced. The coupling type "K" is water resistance and the sensor wire is sealed with a gasket. The Testo 108 reader has a large display that makes reading easy in field use from a distance. 

This thermometer is mostly used in dry bulk such as ore, coals and grains to find spontaneous heat genereation. 
The sensor and sensor wire can handle extreme heats as the sensor is coated in teflon and the wire is protected with a stainless steel wire coating. 

With this thermometer you can easily find "heat spots" as you can penetrate the sensor in the dry bulk fast without bending or damaging the stem or sensor. The sensor is fast in response so you can work fast and accurate.
