The SHT Gas-tight Liquid Sampler is a closed-system device engineered for safe, contamination-free sampling of liquids — particularly suited for hydrocarbons and corrosive fluids such as those found in oil or chemical tankers. It features a 30 m stainless steel tape with metric markings, along with a zone sampling bottle (0.4 L capacity) and an additional lab bottle (0.5 L). Designed for durability and low maintenance, the sampler includes a cleaning wiper for the reading glass, uses a modular design, and comes with a robust transport case. It weighs about 7.4 kg and measures approximately 180 mm × 160 mm × 900 mm. The device is rated to tolerate a maximum tank overpressure of 0.3 bar.
Working principle:
The sampler is designed as a closed, gas-tight system so that liquids from tanks (oil, chemicals, or other volatile/corrosive fluids) can be collected without contamination or realising harmfull vapors
Preparation
The operator lowers the sampler into the tank using its stainless steel measuring tape (up to 30 m).
The depth is read directly from the metric markings on the tape.
Sampling
At the desired depth, the zone sampling bottle (0.4 L) collects a liquid sample.
Because the system is sealed, gases and vapors are prevented from escaping, and no external contaminants enter.
Retrieval
The sampler is pulled back up.
The sample remains inside the gas-tight bottle, preserving its original properties (composition, temperature, vapor pressure, etc.).
Transfer
The collected liquid can then be carefully transferred into the provided laboratory bottle (0.5 L) for testing and analysis.
Since the system prevents air contact, results are more reliable, especially for volatile or sensitive substances.
